Financial Peace University

St. Alban’s will offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University for both adults and youth in grades 6-12. Financial Peace University is a proven program that will show you how to master budgeting, save for emergencies, pay off debt, plan and invest for the future, and live and give like no one else. Adults will meet Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm for 9 consecutive weeks beginning September 13 in the Kids Room. Classes generally last 90 minutes and will be led by Rex Warren. Childcare will be provided. The cost $109 per participant. You may order materials at financialpeace.com/classes/1067387/registration

Rex will also offer a Financial Peace University Generation Change class for students in 6th-12th grades that is focused on helping students understand the basics of personal financial responsibility. Teens learn their value in God’s eyes and what the Bible says about money. The importance of giving, the dangers of debt, how to budget and save wisely, and how to plan for large purchases are taught. This class will be offered on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am for 9 consecutive weeks beginning September 16 in the Kids Room. These classes are also 90 minutes. The cost for students is $23. Please sign your student up in the church office so we will know how many books to order. For more information, or to sign up for classes, please call the church office at 428-2305, or contact FPU Coordinator Rex Warren at rexwarren@outlook.com.

Youth Minister Search Update

To begin, I want to let you know that with any staffing position – I want to make a wide search to see who is out there. An easy and quick hire is not always the best hire.

This summer we did a search on ministry sites to see if there was any interest in the position. We received a number of resumes, both local and out-of-state. I am fully aware that we are not going to have a large number of candidates due to our location but we did have several qualified candidates. The process has moved much slower than I had anticipated as I would have loved to have someone here at the start of school, but I am still in conversations with three final candidates.

My hope is that I can narrow down to two (one local and one out-of-state) within the week and set up a visit for the out-of-state candidate. I am also aware that candidates could drop out and we may end up back at the drawing board. I promise I will keep you posted as things develop.

What I want you to know is that the process may take longer but we are going to find the right people to fill our staff – I will not settle for anything less. I would ask you to keep this process in your prayers that God would lead the right people to us.

I will keep you posted as I know more.

Your priest,

John+
